PP Exclusiv Media

PP Exclusiv Media LLC was established in Chișinău in October 2011, after three MPs of the Party of Communists of Moldova, led by Igor Dodon, announced their departure from the party and joined a new political project, the Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM).

The company's first acquisition was the Moscow-founded Russian-language newspaper "Аргументы и Факты в Молдове" (Arguments and Facts in Moldova).

In 2015, Socialist MP Corneliu Furculiță took over ownership of the company. The management was initially assumed by his party colleague Petru Burduja and later by Furculiță's wife, Ludmila. Igor Dodon's wife, Galina Dodon, was also employed as financial director at Exclusiv Media.

At the end of 2015, PP Exclusiv Media LLC obtained the broadcasting licence for TV station NTV Moldova, which used the same trademark as the Russian NTV, where the majority shareholder is the Gazprom Group. In January 2017, Exclusiv Media launched a new TV project, Exclusiv TV, which rebroadcast THT from Russia.

Rise Moldova previously reported that in the first half of 2018, six employees of Exclusiv Media donated a total of 85,500 MDL (over €4,000) to the PSRM. Among them were the company's then-administrator Petru Burduja and one of Exclusiv Media's founders, Veaceslav Anghel, who became a 2019 PSRM candidate for MP.

During this period, PP Exclusiv Media acquired another Russian-language newspaper founded in Russia, "Komsomolskaya Pravda v Moldove".

In 2018, Exclusiv Media became embroiled in a media advertising market scandal after several TV stations (Pro TV Chișinău, RTR Moldova, TV 8 and Jurnal TV) filed a complaint with the Competition Council regarding an alleged cartel agreement between Exclusiv Sales House LLC - a company wholly owned by Exclusiv Media with exclusive rights to market advertising space for NTV Moldova, Exclusiv TV and Accent TV (which later became Primul în Moldova before being suspended) - and Casa Media Corp LLC, a company affiliated with Vladimir Plahotniuc that had exclusive rights to commercialise advertising space for Prime, Publika TV, Canal 2, Canal 3, CTC Moldova, Familia Domashniy, N4, Noroc TV, REN Moldova and Vocea Basarabiei. After two and a half years of investigation, the Competition Council found only Casa Media Corp had "created competitive disadvantages for some TV stations and advertising providers" and fined it accordingly.

In 2015, when Furculiță took over Exclusiv Media, the company reported to the National Bureau of Statistics 15 employees and a loss of half a million MDL (USD 26,573). The figures steadily increased thereafter, with the company reporting 93 employees and a net profit of more than 19 million MDL (USD 1,081,813) by 2019, according to Rise Moldova.

Since 2021, as the PSRM's power waned, the company's revenues and profits have declined.

"Exclusiv Media" LLC is wholly owned by SC "Poliactiv" LLC, which has Ludmila Furculiță as its founder and sole owner.

The name Exclusiv Media appears in a criminal case involving money laundering on a particularly large scale, connected to an investigation into possible external financing of the PSRM. Prosecutors found that in February 2016, funds totalling €1,499,884 from offshore company "Westerby Limited", registered in the Bahamas, were transferred to "Exclusiv Media" LLC's accounts. Subsequently, in March-April 2016, Socialist MP Petru Burduja and MP Corneliu Furculiță's wife withdrew more than 20 million MDL (USD 1,003,515) from the company's accounts, claiming repayment of financial aid obtained from individuals. The case regarding the Bahamas financing remains unresolved.
