The eSP.md site is one of the most popular regional news and information sources, focusing on the northern region of the Republic of Moldova. Its editorial office is located in Bălți, the second-largest city in the country.

The site represents the Russian-language newspaper "SP," which began as an independent regional publication in 1994 and was the first local advertising newspaper in Moldova. Initially edited by Cooperativa "Asta," the publication was registered a year later as a Limited Liability Company under the name EDITORIAL PUBLICATION PERIODICE A ZIARULUI ȘI OFERTĂ S.R.L., with founders Veaceslav Perunov, Lev Șvarțman, and Veaceslav Voina. The name "СП" is derived from "Спрос и предложение" ("Supply and Demand" in Russian). In 1998, the publication evolved into a newspaper focused on information and opinions.

In 2011, a Romanian version was introduced but was later discontinued due to financial difficulties. The newspaper, which had been distributed in northern Moldova, faced several interruptions due to financial constraints.

Since 2021, the newspaper has been known as "Спутник пенсионера" ("The Pensioner's Companion" in Russian). It is now available for national subscription and can be found at newsstands throughout Moldova.

The "SP" newspaper, along with the esp.md website, offers a range of content including local, regional, and national news, as well as publicity, reports, interviews, investigations, editorials, reviews, and other useful information. It also features contests, quizzes, and tests.

From 2008 to 2011, the "SP" newspaper was available online at gazeta-sp.info. Since 2011, the newspaper's website has been hosted at eSP.md. Since then, eSP.md has evolved into a distinct media product. In December 2015, it launched version 3.0 with a new design and enhanced multimedia features.

The site provides news of regional interest and includes several sections, including classified ads. It is available in both Russian and Romanian.

The publication also operates a YouTube channel featuring interviews, reports, vox populi, and explanatory articles aimed at combating fake news.

The eSP.md website is managed by "Publicația periodică SP" SRL, owned and run by journalist Veaceslav Perunov. "SP" is an active member of the Independent Press Association (API), which unites most independent local publications in Moldova.

The publication has been recognized multiple times as the best regional publication in Moldova and has received numerous journalistic awards
