Vasili Chirtoca

Vasili Chirtoca, the founder of the noi.md portal, was born in 1958 in Odessa, Ukraine, former USSR. He is a well-known Moldovan businessman and politician and is often referred to in the press as "one of the richest Moldovans". Chirtoca is the chairman of the DAAC group, a conglomerate of companies active in the import, sale, and repair of automobiles; leasing; real estate; production and sale of cosmetics and perfumery products; fish farming; construction of hydraulic and agricultural machinery, information technologies, security, and protection, etc. 

In 1997, Chirtoca got involved in politics, becoming one of the founders and co-chairman of the political party "Furnica" (The Ant). Between 1998-2000 he was a member of the Political Council of the Democratic Party. Between 1997 and 2000 he was a member of the Economic Council of the President of Moldova Petru Lucinschi, and from 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the Economic Council of the Prime Minister of Moldova Vasile Tarlev from the Party of Communists. 

In 2015, he was the candidate of the Party of Communists (PCRM) for the mayor of Chișinău municipality, and got 4.04% of the votes. Following those elections he won a seat in the Chișinău Municipal Council from the PCRM. In 2019 he became a councilor again, this time from the Party of Socialists (PSRM). He resigned in 2022.

Vasili Chirtoca has been President of the Boxing Federation of Moldova since 1993. He holds the Order "Gloria Muncii", awarded in 2007 by the former communist President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin. In 2018, Chirtoca was awarded the "Order of the Republic" - Moldova's highest state honour - by former socialist President Igor Dodon.

Vasili Chirtoca is married and has two sons. All family members are employees of the DAAC group.
