PROTV Chisinau

PROTV Chisinau was launched in 1999 by Pro Digital SRL (formerly Mediapro SRL), a company established by CME Media Enterprises BV, marking one of the first private TV stations in Moldova. The media company managing the TV station has been led by Cătălin Giosan since its establishment.
In December 2008, the Audiovisual Council (CA) notified the TV station that its broadcasting license was set to be withdrawn, citing a regulation stipulating that only broadcasters with licenses granted under the 2006 Broadcasting Code were automatically eligible for renewal. According to the CA, broadcasters licensed under the 1995 law, like PRO TV Chisinau, were required to participate in a competitive procedure. PRO TV Chisinau contested this decision in court, and the Supreme Court of Justice ruled in its favour.
PROTV Chisinau was the only TV station to broadcast live coverage of the April 2009 protests in Chisinau, including the foreign TV channels.
The schedule of Pro TV includes three news bulletins, a political talk show ("In profunzime"), entertainment programs ("iSănătate", "O seară perfectă” (A Perfect Evening) and „Gusturile se discută”" (Tastes are Discussed"), as well as movies and TV series.
Pro TV’s funding comes from advertising revenues and grants from international organizations.
