stiri.md

Știri.md is a Romanian-language news aggregator founded in April 2018. In addition to its original news articles, Stiri.md mostly publishes material produced by other media outlets from Moldova and abroad. In October 2020, Stiri.md announced its position as "the most widely read Romanian-language news aggregator in Moldova." According to Gemius Audience data, the website has maintained a strong presence in Moldova's digital media landscape, consistently ranking among the top three most visited websites and claiming either first or second position among news websites during the first seven months of 2024. The platform provides daily coverage of political, economic, social, and entertainment news from both Moldova and worldwide.
A 2024 assessment by PressCheck.md revealed that while Stiri.md does not intentionally publish misinformation, there are occasional lapses in their journalistic practices. Sometimes the site republishes content from other sources or presents single-source statements without proper verification, which can result in the spread of false or misleading information.
For example, in February 2024, Stiri.md published a syndicated news item consisting solely of politician Ion Chicu's statement made during a television broadcast. Subsequently, the Stopfals portal debunked the former prime minister's statements. At the same time, dozens of articles can be found on stiri.md that refute various fake news spreading in Moldova's online environment.
