AO "Centrul comunitar anticriză"

The Public Association (AO) "Anti-Crisis Community Center," which registered the gagauznews.md website, was founded in March 2020 by Victor Petrov, a former deputy of the People's Assembly of the Gagauz Autonomous Territorial Unit in the Republic of Moldova. Petrov currently serves as vice president of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia, led by Evghenia Guțul, a leader affiliated with the oligarch Ilan Șor, who has been sentenced to prison for bank fraud.
On its website nash.md, the Anti-Crisis Community Center Association (in Russian: "Народный антикризисный штаб") is described as "one of the largest volunteer and charitable movements in the Republic of Moldova," with over 350 active volunteers. However, in 2023, the MoldovaCurată.md portal reported that despite frequently showcasing photos of their activities—such as donating various products to those in need in Gagauzia—the Anti-Crisis Community Center Association has not submitted financial reports for 2020 or 2021, in violation of the Accounting Law. Consequently, the sources of their funding remain unclear.
