Cinema 1 is a generalist channel, with a morning programme (Новое Утро), news bulletins, cooking shows (Азбука вкуса), talk shows (7Zile). After the Chișinău authorities suspended or withdrew the licences  of several TV stations retransmitting programs produced in Russia, Cinema 1, with predominantly Russian-language content, became the station with the largest audience in Moldova, according to data from the first half of 2024. Cinema 1 has a market share of 8.61%. This share represents the proportion of people watching a particular programme or part of the day compared to the total number of people watching TV during the same time period.

The A.Video-Content SRL company, the owner of Cinema 1, obtained the broadcasting licence on 24 July 2020. In April 2021, following a request by A.Video-Content, the Audiovisual Council approved the renaming of Cinema 1 to CTC. Subsequently, on 26 January 2022, the Audiovisual Council approved the re-issuance of the licence , with the name of the television station being changed back to Cinema 1. On January 20, 2023, the Audiovisual Council approved Cinema 1's request to become a generalist channel from a thematic channel.

After the Commission for Exceptional Situations suspended RTR Moldova's broadcasting licence on 16 December 2022, the station announced that its broadcasts and news programmes would be available on the Cinema 1 channel from 19 December 2022. 

Cinema 1 was repeatedly sanctioned by the Audiovisual Council for "not adhering to its own programming concept" and for "committing a trickery and evading audiovisual legislation provisions by rebroadcasting news programs and shows previously aired on RTR Moldova."

    A.Video-Content, the company that founded the Cinema 1 TV channel, is owned by Irina Stețco. She is the daughter-in-law of Valentina Stețco, who owns several companies active in advertising, including TV advertising, through the Novadsail sales house, which operates in Moldova and Uzbekistan, according to information on its website. Valentina Stețco also held shares in the companies that owned the television channels RTR Moldova and Bravo TV, whose broadcasting licenses were revoked by the Audiovisual Council in December 2023 at the request of the founders, after their licenses had previously been suspended by the authorities. Before the decision to suspend the licenses, RTR Moldova and Bravo TV received several public warnings and sanctions for violating audiovisual legislation, mainly for failing to ensure accurate information and the lack of local programs.

    Irina Stețco's brother-in-law, Nichita Stețco (Valentina Stețco's son), is the owner of the TV station 7TV (former Ren TV Moldova), through the company Media Production TV SRL.

    Both channels owned by members of the Stețco family, Cinema 1 and 7TV, broadcast the program “7Zile (7Days)  with Rodica Cravcenco”, who is also the general producer of Cinema 1. Cravcenco previously worked at Accent TV, Primul în Moldova, and RTR Moldova.
