Jurnal FM is part of the Jurnal Trust Media Holding, which also owns Jurnal TV and the Jurnal.md news portal. The station began broadcasting online in 2009. In 2010, it merged with Radio Sănătatea, a station that had been operating in Edinet since 1999. The merged entity retained the name Jurnal FM while acquiring Radio Sănătatea's broadcasting frequencies.

The founders of Jurnal FM, Valentin Butnaru and Victor Gîndea, assumed management of the Public Association Health Promotion and Health Education Center 'Sănătatea', which was Radio Sănătatea's founding organization. Initially, the NGO's associates included Adrian Gîțu, former general manager of Jurnal TV. He was later succeeded by Dumitru Pavel, a legal professional who served as Jurnal Trust Media's attorney in various court proceedings.

In January 2017, Jurnal FM temporarily suspended its operations for two months, citing government political pressure and a forced short-notice relocation of its headquarters. The station resumed broadcasting from its new location on March 5, 2017, seven years after the establishment of Jurnal TV.

Jurnal FM operates as an information and music radio station. Its programming combines news coverage, public debates, cultural programming, entertainment segments, interactive talk shows, sports coverage, and music. The station broadcasts regular news bulletins throughout the day at scheduled intervals.

However, through management of the NGO, the radio station is part of the Jurnal Trust Media. From October 2010 to March 2012, he was a lawyer at Jurnal de Chisinau Plus SRL and later represented the Jurnal Trust Media holding in court cases.

    Dumitru Pavel has also provided legal assistance to members of the PPDA and its leader, Andrei Năstase. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, he was a candidate on the Bloc ACUM list in the national constituency.
