The newspaper "Economicescoe Obozrenie - Logos-Pres" is considered the oldest periodical publication in the Republic of Moldova. Founded in November 1990, even before the country gained independence, the newspaper is published weekly, every Friday. It is exclusively edited in Russian and is the only private economic weekly in Moldova.

The newspaper provides analyses of processes and projects in key sectors of the national economy, covering both internal and external markets for goods and services. It prides itself on its independent editorial policy and impartial evaluations, backed by experience and expertise in the economic field.

Materials from the newspaper are also available on its website, logos-pres.md. However, some journalistic content can only be accessed by registered users who purchase a subscription to the online version. As of August 2024, an annual subscription costs 1,200 lei (MDL), approximately 70 USD.

Ownership Structure

The periodical publication "Economicescoe Obozrenie" ("Logos-Pres") is owned by the Periodical publication economic magazine Logos-pres SA, a joint-stock company that has only one owner - the company "Cașalot" SRL. The company is, in turn, founded by the company S.C. "CPD - Industrial Grup" SRL, whose 100% share is owned by Olga Baciu, the sister of businessman Mircea Baciu.

Serghei Mișin (born 1958) is an economist who founded the newspaper Economicescoe Obozrenie "Logos-Pres" in 1990. In 2016, he sold the newspaper for approximately 2 million lei to Alexandru Tanas. Mișin was recognized twice by the Center for Independent Journalism in Moldova as the best press manager of the year, in 1998 and 2008.

In 1998, he also became a member of a political party and ran for a seat in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova as part of the Electoral Bloc "For a Democratic and Prosperous Moldova," where he was ranked 64th on the list. The leaders of the Bloc included politicians Dumitru Diacov, Ion Sturza, and Valeriu Muravschi.

Editor-In-ChiefDmitri Calac

Dmitri Calac (born 1959) is a journalist and an economist. He studied journalism at the State University of Moldova and international relations at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Moldova, graduating in 2006. He has worked as a journalist and deputy editor-in-chief for the newspaper "Economicheskoe Obozrenie Logos-Press."

Previously, he was employed at the security and digital services company "Allas."

Calac served as a member of the Press Council from 2010 to 2012 and is among the founders of the Economic Press Club. In both 2004 and 2006, he was recognized by the Center for Independent Journalism as one of the top 10 journalists of the year.

He ran for a parliamentary seat in the anticipated elections on July 11, 2021, starting from the 58th position on the lists of the Political Party "Partidul Acțiunii Comune - Civic Congress," which was founded by former Communist Party deputies Iurie Muntean and Mark Tkaciuk. 

However, the party did not receive enough votes to enter Parliament.

"We have to work to improve citizens' lives, not just shout about European integration," Dmitri Calac recently stated on a television show.
